Peter Mücke (German auto-racing driver and Mücke-Motorsport team manager) is going to contest the 2008 DTM season with an interesting driver line-up: the Berlin based squad will be represented by two rookies that couldn’t be more different. On the one hand, there is Ralf Schumacher, with massive motor-racing experience under his belt and on the other, Maro Engel who is just at the beginning of his career will also race for Mücke.
”No doubt, the two drivers have got completely different histories,” admits Peter Mücke. “But this doesn’t make a difference when it comes to working on the track. They both are professional and focused drivers.” Mücke doesn’t feel growing pressure because of having Ralf Schumacher in the team. “Actually, the situation hasn’t changed, for us. At the bottom line, Ralf behaves like a Formula 3 driver - he’s down to earth and focused, without displaying any airs and graces.”
Despite being aware that his new signing Ralf Schumacher will have to meet extremely high expectations Mücke is convinced that both drivers will succeed in DTM. “Both Ralf and Maro are racing on an extremely high level,” he says, “And they have got what it takes to shine in DTM. The competitiveness of the DTM grid is outstanding, hence, it is difficult to make it to the very top. But if everything runs perfectly and you deliver when it counts, everything is possible.”
